Amanda Guillen Biography
Amanda Guillen is an American weather forecaster. She is the weekend weather forecaster for KFOX14/CBS4. She can also be seen during the week as she picks up her camera and microphone as a general assignments reporter.
Prior to working at KFOX14/CBS4, she held the same position at the NBC affiliate in El Paso. Amanda has always had a passion for story telling, which led her to reporting. As a young girl, Amanda watched the evening news with her parents. From then on, she knew that one day she would be on the other side of the screen.

Amanda was born and raised in El Paso, a border town in west Texas. She has been exposed to the many issues on both sides of the border. With this experience, Amanda hopes to continue sharing the stories of her hometown to a larger audience. She graduated from El Paso High School and earned her degree in multimedia journalism from the University of Texas at El Paso.
While at University of Texas at El Paso, Amanda was involved in many organizations. She served as a 2014 Sun Princess with the Sun Bowl Association. She was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, The National Association of Hispanic Journalists, Borderzine and UTEP Student Publications. Amanda was also named editor-in-chief of UTEP’s student newspaper, The Prospector, during UTEP’s centennial year. This involved coordinating and releasing the university’s first-ever 100-page special issue of the newspaper. Along with being editor-in-chief, she also started the organization’s first weekly broadcast, called “The Prospector News Weekly.”

Amanda is the weekend weather forecaster for KFOX14/CBS4. She can be seen during the week as she picks up her camera and microphone as a general assignments reporter. She works with other team members at KFOX14/CBS4 which includes Robert Holguin, Jessica Gonzalez , Holly Bock, Brad Montgomery, Kaylee Heck and Portia Baudisch. Prior to that she was a prime time news producer, weather anchor and multimedia journalist for KTSM Channel 9, an NBC affiliate in El Paso, Texas. Along with her experience as a forecaster and reporter along the U.S./Mexico border, she has also reported from the White House, Supreme Court and Capitol Hill as a reporter with the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire in Washington, D.C.
Some notable stories that she has covered include former President Barack Obama’s repeal of the No Child Left Behind Act, Pope Francis’ trip to the U.S. Capitol and Juarez, the Supreme Court hearing of the “one-person-one-vote principle,” the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March and Bernie Sanders’ campaign visit to New Mexico.

In the Fall of 2015 Amanda moved to Washington D.C. for a reporting internship with the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire. There she covered White House events, the Supreme Court, Capitol Hill and Pope Francis’ visit to Washington.
Also she worked for KTNV-13 ABC Action News in Las Vegas, Nevada in the summer of 2016 as an intern for The Morning Blend, a local lifestyle morning show. Amanda wrote segments for the show and also helped with production and management.
During her junior and the starting of her senior year Amanda was a reporting intern with KVIA Channel 7, the El Paso ABC affiliate.
Amanda is an active National Association of Hispanic Journalist’s-NAHJ member and is also a member of two academic honor society’s, Alpha Lambda Delta and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
