Cody grew up along the coast of Central Maine, not far from Acadia National Park. There, he gained a true appreciation for the outdoors and a strong sense of community. He graduated from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, where the ‘journalism bug’ bit him by way of local TV and radio broadcasts.
Cody has kept his personal life away from public. He has never shared on social media or talked publicly regarding his family, wife or children. Currently it is not clear if Cody is single, married, Dating or engaged.

Previously, Cody served as evening anchor at WRGB-TV in Albany, New York, where he covered everything from crippling political corruption and environmental disasters to offbeat features and stories that capture the human spirit.
His storytelling abilities and passion for journalism earned him multiple Associated Press awards and an Edward R. Murrow award, along with one EMMY win and five nominations.

Cody also worked as an anchor/reporter at WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During his time there, he was front and center, following a number of major news stories. Cody was live on the scene after a lone gunman terrorized a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, and he tracked an historic push to recall a sitting governor. He also covered a number of severe weather events, most notably showing viewers the aftermath of a major tornado that leveled the town of Washington, Illinois. Cody earned multiple awards from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.

Cody started his professional career at WSFA-TV in Montgomery, Alabama. As an anchor and reporter there, his work exposed and changed a major flaw in how sensitive medical records were discarded. Cody also helped end the manhunt for a shooter who killed his wife on a college campus. He showed viewers the devastation brought on by an historic tornado outbreak. Cody also followed the cleanup efforts of the massive Gulf oil spill, which crippled the economy along the Gulf Coast.
