Doug Fernandez is an American news anchor as co-anchor of Action 7 News Live at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. He joined the Action 7 News team in August 2002. Before joining Action 7 News, Doug worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KCAL-TV in Los Angeles. Prior to this, he worked at stations in Shreveport, La.; Dallas; Fresno, Calif.; Anniston, Ala.; and Jackson, Tenn. Dough brings you the day’s big stories alongside co-anchor Shelly Ribando.

Doug grew up in Fremont, California. He has not revealed any thing regarding his parents and siblings. He is a happily married man and he has children. Being a very secretive person Doug has not disclosed any information regarding his wife and children. It is not clear when she married his wife and the number of children they have. In December 15, 2017 Doug wished his daughter Alex and her husband Jonathan a happy anniversary.

Doug enjoys spending time with his children, playing golf (while enjoying the beautiful New Mexico scenery), and watching his beloved Oakland Raiders and Oakland A’s.

Doug of KOAT in Albuquerque, New Mexico, just couldn’t take it anymore. In July 2017 the news anchor Doug was cutting away to a reporter in the field when he realized that the remote shot wasn’t ready. He noted the problem and moved on to another story  just in time for the on-location feed to kick in and interrupt him.So he threw his papers up in the air and appeared to walk off the set.

Before he joined Action 7 News, he worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KCAL-TV in Los Angeles. Prior to this, he worked at stations in Shreveport, La.; Dallas; Fresno, Calif.; Anniston, Ala.; and Jackson, Tenn.

As a veteran broadcast journalist, Doug has covered a wide range of stories for Action 7 News. In keeping with Action 7 News’ commitment to coverage, he was the only New Mexico TV anchor to provide live coverage from the 2004 and 2008 Democratic National Convention, the 2004 and 2008 Republican National Convention, and the grand opening of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

Doug has also traveled to southeast Texas to cover the Shuttle Columbia disaster, Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath and over a 3-day period was on the air for more than 16 hours covering bosque fires in the summer of 2003.
