I became a part of the WDAY 6 news team back in September 2013, initially joining as a weekend anchor and reporter. Over the years, my role has evolved, and I currently serve as the Assistant News Director and the anchor for First News. Before arriving in the Fargo-Moorhead area, I had the privilege of working as a broadcast journalist at the CBS affiliate, KTVQ, in Billings, Montana—a place I proudly call my hometown.

Throughout my relatively young broadcast career, I’ve worn multiple hats, including those of an anchor, reporter, producer, sports producer, and online producer. However, my true passion lies in storytelling. Beyond the confines of my work hours (if such a thing exists in our profession), I enjoy immersing myself in the world of sports, whether it’s watching a game on TV or attending live events. I have a soft spot for Seattle teams on the professional level, and as a graduate of the University of Montana, I also have a fondness for FCS football (please forgive my loyalty). When I’m not indulging in sports, I find solace in reading, watching movies, savoring good music, and relishing outdoor adventures.

These pursuits become all the more delightful when I can share them with my wife and our daughter. If you have a story idea you’d like to share with me or simply want to say hello, please feel free to reach out via email at dtrafton@wday.com or give me a call at (701) 241-5384. Your stories and interactions are what make my work as a storyteller truly meaningful.
