Gus Kenworthy born Augustus Richard Kenworthy is a British-born American freestyle skier and actor. He competes in slopestyle, halfpipe and big air. He won the silver medal in Men’s slopestyle at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Kenworthy again represented the United States in slopestyle at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, where he qualified for the final and finished in 12th place.

Augustus was born in Telluride, Colorado. He is the youngest of three boys. He is the son an English mother, Pip Tyler, and an American father, Peter Kenworthy. Gus has two older brothers, Hugh and Nick Kenworthy.
Since 2006 his father has been the executive director of the Mountainfilm film festival in Telluride . Previously he was a banker from Philadelphia and also worked in London (UK) for several years. His mother is originally from Bristol, England. She was born into a large family, with eight siblings. After moving to London in the early 1970s, she began working backstage in costumes, at the Kings Head Theatre Club. She also ran a vintage booth at the Camden Lock Market. She emigrated with her then husband, Peter, and her sons, including then two-year-old Gus, to Telluride, in 1993.

Gus stayed behind for more than a month to save the family of dogs, and others, while he fought to bring them back home. Their adoption of these dogs helped bring further attention to the problematic rise of the stray dog population in Sochi, which grew significantly during the Olympics. The couple eventually broke up after a five-year relationship.

Gus has been in a relationship with American theatre and film actor and reality television personality Matthew Wilkas since November 2015. Gus and Matt Wilkas rescued, Beemo, during the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea in early 2018. But they tragically lost Beemo in May after she died from a birth defect.
Matt and Gus had a gut-wrenching visit to a dog meat farm where they meet and adopted their first dog, Beemo and also witnessed the birth of their other pup, Birdie.
‘Although their time with Beemo was short she changed their lives and stole their hearts. After the dog passed away they pair pledged that they would get tattoos in her honor. Gus brought Matt to London for New Year’s and surprised him with appointments for us to finally get their tattoos done.’
In August 2018, the couple adopted Birdie, another rescue dog from South Korea. But Gus wanted to be sure he didn’t disrespect Beemo’s memory.
‘Nothing in the world could ever replace Beemo,’ wrote Gus ‘Or the love that we felt and still feel for her but Birdie has already stolen a new place in our hearts and we’re excited to be dog dads again.

Gus is a freestyle skier who competes in big air, halfpipe and slopestyle. Gus won AFP World Championships overall titles in 2011, 2012, and 2013. in 2014, he placed second at the Olympics in Sochi, Russia and won his first medal, a bronze, at the X Games in Tignes, France in the slopestyle event.
He won the World Cup Men’s Halfpipe in Park City, Utah, in 2015 and again in 2016 in Mammoth, California, and finished second in 2017. He finished third in the Men’s Slopestyle during the 2017 World Cup in Silvaplana, Switzerland.
