Jason Martinez Biography
Jason Martinez is an American Emmy award – winning news anchor. He was hired by Fox 29 (WXTF) on June 2019. Jason will co-anchor the 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. shows with fellow newcomer Shaina Humphries.

He moved to Philly from San Diego, where he was the morning anchor at KGTV the prior four years. Prior to his time in San Diego, Jason worked at WPLG Local10 in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, KFSN-TV in Fresno and WTVG-TV in Toledo.

Just days after Jason’s son Carson was born he nearly died after contracting a blood infection. His remarkable recovery motivated Jason to get involved with causes that benefit Children’s Hospitals across the country. He lost his grandfather to Alzheimer’s disease, which is another cause near and dear to his heart. He has been a partner with the Alzheimer’s Association for many years.

After Jason left KGTV he joined the FOX 29 News team in June 2019, as co-anchor of The FOX 29 News broadcasts weeknights at Five, Six, Ten and 11 p.m. shows with fellow newcomer Shaina Humphries.
After reshuffling was seemingly complete, Jason began co-anchoring the FOX 29 News at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. with Humphries on June 17 2019. Jason and Humphries will be joined by sports anchor Kristen Rodgers and meteorologists Kathy Orr and Scott Williams.

Jason an Emmy Award-winning anchor/reporter, moved to Philly from San Diego, where he was the morning anchor at KGTV the prior four years. His experience there includes anchoring non-stop coverage of the devastating Lilac Fire, which destroyed more than 200 homes, the international border conflict, immigration issues and California’s cost of living crisis.
Apart from being in San Diego, Jason spent five years as an anchor at WPLG in Miami, covering some of the wildest “only in Florida” stories of his career. Jason covered Presidential elections in the swing state, US-Cuba relations, fake plastic surgeons, a violent face-eating incident and two Miami Heat NBA championships.
His experience reporting in the field has taken him through floods, crime scenes, presidential elections, plane crashes, tornadoes, and hurricanes. In Fresno, CA, He won an Emmy Award providing coverage for a devastating freeze that destroyed Central California’s citrus crops. Jason also worked in Los Angeles, where he earned his fourth Emmy Award for team coverage of Michael Jackson’s shocking death.
Jason started his career as a reporter at WTVG in Toledo, Ohio. There, he covered several major stories including the November 2002 outbreak of tornadoes, “The Big Blackout,” and he interviewed a young high school kid named LeBron James, who was good at basketball.

KGTV Anchor Jason signed off from the Scripps station in March 2019.He posted the news to social media that he has left KGTV. This what he wrote “Farewell San Diego after 4 wonderful years in America’s Finest City today will be my last day anchoring at 10 news. This decision has been a difficult one for my family and me. Thank you to KGTV management and Scripps for believing in me. I want to thank you viewers for your kindness and friendship. I m so grateful to you all. I’ m going to miss my work family more than words can say !! I’m not ready to announce my next move yet bu stay tuned as they say . Thank You !”

Jason who anchored KTLA’s weekend news report, resigned unexpectedly after nine months with the station in September 29 2009.
Jason, a three-time Emmy Award winner who had joined Channel 5 in January 2009 as a field reporter and quickly worked his way up to the weekend anchor position, resigned September 29 2009, said Jason Ball, KTLA news director.
The Torrance-born jason joined KTLA in January 2009 and anchored a 6 p.m. newscast that was launched Jan. 19. He also anchored the well-watched 10 p.m. news.
