Jesse Lee Soffer is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Will Munson on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns for which he received three Emmy nominations.

He has starred as Det. Jay Halstead on the NBC drama Chicago Fire, in a recurring role, and its police procedural spin-off Chicago P.D., as part of the main cast since 2014. He is also well known for his role as Bobby Brady in the comedy The Brady Bunch Movie and its sequel A Very Brady Sequel.

Jesse was born in Ossining, New York, the United States.  He is the son of  Stan Soffer and Jill B. Hindes.  His family moved to Tarrytown when Jesse was a child and later settled in Connecticut. He holds an American nationality but his ethnicity is North American.

Jesse has four siblings- Melisa Soffer, Shayne A. Hindes, Jenna Hindes, and Craig Soffer. After high school graduation, he went to  the New York University and  graduated in 2003. In his college level, he used to play soccer for the University’s team.

Jesse began acting career when he was six years old when he landed a Kix cereal commercial.  At age of eight in 1993, he made his feature film debut with John Goodman and Cathy Moriarty in the comedy Matinee.

When Sophia Bush announced she would be leaving the cast of Chicago P.D.ahead of season 5  her fans were disappointed. It also turned out  that Jesse, who plays her character Erin Lindsay’s partner (and romantic interest) Jay Halstead, was also upset by her exit.

“You know, it’s always sad when a cast member leaves a show,” Soffer told TVLine. “We’re a huge family, and she’s a huge part of making the show what it was. We all created something together, and so that’s always difficult. But the show must go on. That’s how it works.”

From a source Jesse previously dated Bush they split in June 2015 after almost a year of dating. They  were spotted holding hands while strolling around New York City later that year, but never rekindled their romance. The former couple met while starring alongside each other on the NBC drama series, playing Erin Lindsay and Jay Halstead.

It  was reported in June 2013  that Jesse had joined the cast of the NBC police procedural drama Chicago P.D., the first spin-off show from the drama Chicago Fire as Det. Jay Halstead.

Halstead was introduced in the second season of Chicago Fire. Chicago P.D. premiered on January 8, 2014.  NBC renewed the series for a second season on March 19, 2014.  NBC officially announced it would premiere September 24, 2014. Jesse does his own stunts on the show.

Jesse  began his acting career at the age of six when he appeared in a Kix cereal commercial. He made his feature film debut as Dennis Loomis in the comedy ‘Matinein 1993.  A year later, Jesse starred in the drama film ‘Safe Passage’ alongside Nick Stahl, Sean Astin, Sam Shepard and Jason London. He has been playing the role of Jay Halstead in Dick Wolf’s ‘Chicago’ since 2013, action drama series.  Jesse featured in the second season premiere of the comedy web series ‘Talking Marriage with Ryan Bailey’ in September 2014. The series stars actor Ryan Bailey as a talk show host who shares words of wisdom for sustaining a cheerful state of matrimony.
