Jim Hoffer Biography
Jim Hoffer is an American Emmy Award-Winning journalist who works as an investigative reporter for Eyewitness News, New York City. Throughout his over two decades of investigative journalism he has been at the front lines of several crucial stories from the 9/11 attach to the crash of American Flight 587 to the 2003 Blackout. In addition, his under cover investigations have led to stricker regulations on New York state gun shows in order to protect military vessels. He was married to MSNBC morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski, with whom he has two daughters.

Jim and wife Mika Brzezinski ended their 23 years of marriage in the summer of 2016 . His ex- wife Mika is American newscaster known as the co-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Mika posted a picture of Jim and her father enjoying the speedboat on her Twitter account on 1 August 2012, a year before their separation in 2013. Their amicable and private divorce was finalized in 2015.
Jim and his ex-wife Mika first met at WTIC-TV. After getting used to each other they married in October 1993 in a Block Island at the West Side Church.
They together have two daughters, Emilie and Carlie. Jim on 28 June 2017 shared an Instagram picture with his daughter on Instagram, running on the Central Park
Their eldest daughter, Emilie recently completed her graduation from John Hopkins University. On 25 May 2018 Jim shared the excitement and proud moment by sharing a picture with his daughters on Instagram.
Carlie will also complete her graduation from Dartmouth College in the year 2020. Her working experience includes as an intern at MSNBC Morning Joe between June to August 2015. She also worked at an apparel and fashion brand Milly in June 2016 for almost two months.
Apart from encouraging Emile and Carlie on their studies, Jim manages to spend quality time with them. On 6 August 2018 Jim took both his children at hiking in Hanover, New Hampshire .

Jim Began his journalism career from WABC-TV right after he graduated from college. He has been investigating corruption, wrong-doing and rip-offs for Eyewitness News for nearly two decades. Jim’s investigations have put scammers behind bars and have freed people falsely accused of crimes. A series of undercover reports pushed New York lawmakers to close the state’s gun show loophole requiring background checks for every gun purchased.
His investigation into a New Jersey Transit engineer operating trains. Despite of him losing his car license to DWI it led to swift action by lawmakers and the removal of the engineer from the rails. When Jim uncovered a Medicaid fraud operation in Harlem, state officials raided the office and closed it down.
Throughout his career, Jim has been honored with more than two dozen Emmys, a national Edward R. Murrow Award, Columbia University’s prestigious DuPont Award and a Peabody Award. During nearly 20 years at Eyewitness News, he has been on the scene of every major story from 9/11 to Super Storm Sandy to the 2003 Blackout to the crash of American Flight 587 and a rash of deadly train accidents.
