John Cusack Biography

John Cusack is an American actor, producer and screenwriter. He made his feature film debut when he was 17 years old.  John acted alongside Rob Lowe and Andrew McCarthy in the romantic comedy Class (1983). His next role was when he  was a member of Anthony Michael Hall’s geek brigade in Sixteen Candles (1984).

John has acted in films since 1980s 1980s.  He has starred in films, including Better Off Dead (1985), Say Anything… (1989), Grosse Pointe Blank (1997), Being John Malkovich (1999), High Fidelity (2000), 1408 (2007), 2012 (2009) and The Raven (2012).

John was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood and grew up in Evanston, Illinois.  He is  the son of Ann Paula “Nancy” (née Carolan) who  is a former mathematics teacher and political activist and Richard Cusack (1925–2003) who was an actor, along with John’s siblings Ann, Joan, Bill, and Susie. John was born into an Irish Catholic family.

He has four siblings and he is the fourth of five children. His parents moved from Manhattan, New York to Illinois.  His father was also a documentary filmmaker who owned a film production company  and was a friend of activist Philip Berrigan.

John graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1984, where he met Jeremy Piven,  and spent a year at New York University before dropping out, saying that he had “too much fire in his belly”.

John has two sisters both are actress Joan and Ann. Joan was born on October 11, 1962 who received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her roles in the romantic comedy-drama Working Girl (1988) and the romantic comedy In & Out (1997). Ann was born on May 22, 1961 who had a minor roles in both the 1996 comedy Multiplicity and The Informant (2009).
