Leandra Medine is an American author, blogger, and humor writer. She is best known for Man Repeller, an independent fashion and lifestyle website.

Leandra began the websiete in 2010 and after three it was featured in Refinery29.  She was also featured in the fashion websites Style.com, Gawker, The Cut, and Fashionista within days .  Leandra was featured in Forbes’s “Top 30 Under 30” as one of the year’s “most influential trendsetters,” in 2012,while Man Repeller was recognized in TIME’s “25 Best Blogs of 2012”,  and received “Best Overall Blog” at the 2012 Bloglovin’ Awards. He  released her first book, an essay collection and memoir titled Man Repeller: Seeking Love, Finding Overalls, in 2013

Leandra was born in Manhattan. She is the daughter of  Mois Medine  who is of Turkish-Jewish descent, and Lyora “Laura” Medine  who is of Iranian-Jewish descent. Leandra grew up in an Orthodox Jewish household.

Her brother Haim launched jewelry line Khai Khai in 2013,and her mother Laura launched jewelry line The Laura Medine Collection.

Leandra went to  the Ramaz School in Manhattan. In May 2011 she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the New School’s Eugene Lang College.

Leandra announced in December 2011, her engagement to Abie J. Cohen, a financial advisor at the Swiss investment bank UBS, whom she had met when she was 17 years old. After her announcement, many responded negatively, questioning her commitment to the principles of “man repelling” outlined in her blog. The Huffington Post wrote: “What happens when the Man Repeller no longer repels men?”In her book, she outlines the personal doubt that followed the social media backlash to her engagement.

Leandra and Cohen were wed in June 2012.  The couple  currently live in the East Village.  In the December 16, 2016 episode of her podcast, Leandra revealed that she suffered a miscarriage.

Leandra in May 2010 she started the Man Repeller blog as a hobby.  This idea of staring a blog came during a trip to Topshop with friend Rachel Strugatz who is now an online editor at Women’s Wear Daily. Leandra recalled, “We were laughing at how everything was so man-repelling: acid-washed harem pants and enormous shoulder pads, and I just said, ‘That’s it! That’s the blog.'”

The blog was featured on the fashion website Refinery29 a few days after it launched. The blog became popular enough that Leandra began collaborating with major magazines like Lucky and Harper’s Bazaar.  It became so commercially successful through a combination of traditional advertising, sponsored blog posts, appearance fees, and designer collaborations that Medine decided to work on the blog full-time after graduation.

In its early years, the blog solely consisted of Medine. Now, she and five other full-time employees edit, write, and promote the website.  The blog also covers topics such as current events, lifestyle, and feminism. She published a book, Man Repeller: Seeking Love in September 2013 . Finding Overalls. The book was published by Grand Central Publishing.

Leandra has collaborated with designers on limited collections of clothes and accessories, including Gryphon, shoe companies Del Toro and Superga, jewelry line Dannijo, and clothing line PJK. Other brand collaborations include Michael Kors, Maje, BaubleBar, Stuart Weitzman, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Leandra signed with the Creative Artists Agency, an entertainment talent agency headquartered in Los Angeles, California.  She  launched MR by Man Repeller, a line of loafers, flats, metallic booties, and heels exclusive to Net-a-Porter in 2016,which embodied her not too serious and irreverent style. MR by Man Repeller was followed by Medine’s eponymous shoe brand Leandra Medine which is sold at Barneys NY, Harvey Nichols, and The Webster.
