Liangelo Ball Biography

Liangelo Ball is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association (JBA). Previously he played for BC Prienai of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL).He has a 6-foot-5, 215-pound shooting guard and he had originally signed to play with the UCLA Bruins as a three-star recruit but withdrew from the university after he was suspended for a shoplifting arrest in China in November 2017.

Ball competed for Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California for four years, gaining national exposure in 2015–16 while playing with his brothers: current Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo and former UCLA commit LaMelo Ball. LaVar his father grew into a media personality starting in 2016 with Lonzo’s success at UCLA.

Ball led his team in scoring for multiple seasons and averaged a state-high 33.8 points per game as a senior at Chino Hills . During his junior, he helped his team, which starred both of his brothers, complete an undefeated season and win the state championship. He drew attention for high scoring outputs in his final season, including a 72-point game vs. Rancho Christian School in November 2016 and several efforts of 50 or more points.

Ball earned All-Area and All-State honors on multiple occasions through his years with Chino Hills. He completed his high school career among the top scorers in CIF Southern Section history.

Liangelo was born in Anaheim, California. He is the son to LaVar and Tina. Ball standa at 6 ft 4 in (1.93). His father LaVar played basketball at Washington State of the NCAA Division I, as well as West Los Angeles College and Cal State Los Angeles. He is alos a former football player at high school and Long Beach City College. He later played with the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football (WLAF) on loan from the New York Jets. Tina his mother stands at 6 ft (1.8 m). She is also a former college basketball player out of Cal State Los Angeles.

He has two brothers Lamelo and Lonzo. Lamelo is a professional basketball player for the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. He verbally committed to play college basketball for the UCLA Bruins at age 13 but later dropped his college plans to pursue a professional career. Lonzo is a professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Liangelo High School Career

From 2013 to 2014 during his freshman season, Ball started playing for Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California, where he was coached by Steve Baik and was a member of a starting lineup that featured his brother Lonzo Ball, a sophomore at the time. He scored 13 points, with six in the second quarter in December 4, 2013 , in a 72–63 win over Pasadena High School. He recorded 24 points on December 19 to defeat Rancho Cucamonga High School, as Chino Hills posted a school-record 122 points. Following the performance, the Los Angeles Times labeled the one-two punch of LiAngelo and Lonzo Ball as “quite a duo.” In early March 2014, Chino Hills made its first-ever CIF Southern Section Open Division championship game appearance, with LiAngelo scoring 14 points in a 48–44 loss to Mater Dei High School. He notched 10 points as his team fell in overtime to Centennial High School at the Southern California Regional Division I final on March 22.

Hey, what do you know, soon after LaMelo Ball informed Slam magazine that he was enrolling at Spire Institute to finish his prep career one year after dropping out of high school to play professionally in Lithuania, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania that LiAngelo Ball also has a basketball future.

It really makes you wonder who might want this news out there simultaneously.

Anyway, LiAngelo has informed G League teams that he intends to join the NBA developmental league’s free-agent player pool, according to Charania. What that means, exactly, isn’t entirely clear.

Sources on @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium: LiAngelo Ball has notified NBA G League teams that he is planning to enter player pool to sign a G League contract. Ball went undrafted in June NBA draft after playing in Lithuania last season.
