Margaret Johnson Biography

Margaret Johnson is an American journalist.  Currently she is a Noon anchor for WXII 12 News in Winston-Salem. Previously she also anchored WXII 12 News On the weekend and WXII 12 News At Sunrise. Margaret is a survivor of Pancreatic Cancer. She was diagnosed in 2005. She believes God healed her.

Margaret comes from a large family with 14 children. She is a member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, where she is an active member of the Sunday School and the Usher Board.

Margaret is a happily married woman. She is married to Ron Pannell. The couple have one daughter, Allyson.

Margaret Johnson WXII Cancer | Pancreatic Cancer

Margaret is a survivor of Pancreatic Cancer. She was diagnosed in 2005. She believes God healed her. Since her recovery, Margaret has co-produced a special that air during the holiday season called “Miracles Among Us.” The special showcases people across the Triad who believe miracles occurred in their lives. “This is some of the most rewarding work I get to do during the year,” Margaret says.

In 2005, Margaret took a long absence from WXII while being treated for pancreatic cancer. She went through two surgeries plus radiation treatments and chemo.  She is tested every six months and is happy to say that she remains cancer-free. “And a lot of people (have) been praying for me. I believe prayer changes things, and it does. Here I am.”  BTW: Margaret is a longtime fixture at WXII, having been at the station for more than three decades.

Margaret is the Noon anchor for WXII 12 News in Winston-Salem. Before that, she also anchored WXII 12 News On the weekend and WXII 12 News At Sunrise. Weekday mornings on WXII 12 News anchors Kimberly Van Scoy,  DaVonté McKenith, Jarred Hill and meteorologist Brian Slocum.

Before moving to the Triad, Margaret anchored the news at WDEF-TV IN Chattanooga, Tennessee and in her home town of Columbus, Georgia. Margaret is a graduate of The University Of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

In 2011, Miracles Among Us was nominated for an Emmy.
