Patricia Arquette is an American actress. In A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) she made her feature film debut as Kristen Parker.  Patricia’s  other known films include True Romance (1993), Ed Wood (1994), Flirting with Disaster (1996), Lost Highway (1997), The Hi-Lo Country (1998), Bringing Out the Dead (1999), Holes (2003), and Fast Food Nation (2006).

Patricia performed in the coming-of-age drama film Boyhood (2014), which was filmed from 2002 until 2014. Following her performance she received widespread critical praise. She also won the Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Critics’ Choice Award, Golden Globe Award, Independent Spirit Award, Satellite Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award, along with many other critics prizes, for Best Supporting Actress.

Patricia played the character Allison DuBois on television. It was based on the author and medium Allison DuBois, who claims to have psychic abilities—in the supernatural drama series Medium (2005–2011). In 2005 she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series from the two nominations Patricia received for the role.  In addition to three Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

She also appeared in the CSI franchise as Avery Ryan, the Deputy Director of the FBI, starring in CSI: Cyber (2015–16). Patricia  in the Showtime miniseries Escape at Dannemora (2018) she starred as Joyce Mitchell, for which she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film.

Patricia  was born in Chicago, Illinois.  She is the daughter of Lewis Arquette, an actor, and Brenda Olivia “Mardi” (née Nowak), who was involved in the arts and worked as a therapist. Patricia through her father’s side she  is distantly related to explorer Meriwether Lewis. Her father had converted from Catholicism to Islam. Her  mother was Jewish, and her ancestors emigrated from Poland and Russia.

Patricia father’s family’s surname was originally “Arcouet”, and his paternal line was of French-Canadian descent. Her paternal grandfather Cliff Arquette was comedian.  She has four siblings who also became actors: Rosanna, Richmond, Alexis, and David. At her childhood  her parents offered to get her braces for her teeth; but she refused, telling them she wanted to have flaws because it would help her with character acting.

Her family lived on a commune in rural , Virginia for a time . Patricia has said they became poorer the longer they lived there and she believes that experience enlarged her empathy.  Patricia’s father was an alcoholic, while her mother violently abusive. The family relocated to Chicago when she was seven years old . Later they  settled in Los Angeles, California.  Patricia was brought up Catholic and went to  Catholic school, and has said that when she was a teenager, she had wanted to be a nun.

When she was  fourteen years old, Patricia ran away from home after learning her father was having an affair. Together with her sister Rosanna Arquette they settled  in Los Angeles. Patricia has described her father as a working actor for industrial films, commercials and voiceovers. His father was best known for his role as J.D. Pickett in the TV series The Waltons. Patricia before she pursued a career in acting, she had wanted to be a midwife. Patricia put this career prospect aside briefly in an attempt to gain acting jobs and gained success in the industry.

Patricia had a sister known as Alexi Arquette who was born on July 28, 1969 and died on September 11, 2016. He was an actress, cabaret performer , underground cartoonist and activitst. He died of HIV which he contracted in 1987. Her brother David Arquette said that she told him she was “gender suspicious”, and alternately felt like a man or a woman at different times. She was a vocal supporter of transgender people, including Chaz Bono, who transitioned from 2006 to 2008.

David is Patricia’s brother who is a wrestler. When Patricia was once asked about David’s new, more bloody career as a pro wrestler she said that she got her full support … even if she’s too scared to watch him perform.

“It scares me a little bit. We’re all scared as a family,” Patricia says. “But also, I know this is David’s life and David is an eccentric, wonderful, incredible person and it’s his path.”

She says she’s most worried about David getting hurt and rightfully so.

Patricia married Nicolas Cage in April 1995. With whom she later co-starred in Bringing Out the Dead in 1999. The two split after nine months, but acted as a couple in public until Cage filed for divorce in February 2000.  Cage withdrew the divorce petition, and they worked at reconciliation, but Patricia in November 2000 she filed for divorce.

In 2002 Patricia and actor Thomas Jane became engaged. On February 23, 2003 their daughter Harlow Olivia Calliope Jane was born . the couple got  married on June 25, 2006, at the Palazzo Contarini in Venice, Italy.  Patricia filed for divorce from Jane on the grounds of irreconcilable differences in January 2009 , but the couple soon reconciled.  On July 9, 2009 she withdrew the divorce petition. , Jane’s representative announced on August 13, 2010 that  Patricia and Jane had decided to proceed with a divorce due to “irreconcilable differences”. Their divorce was finalized on July 1, 2011, and the two agreed to joint custody of their child.

Patricia has a unique smile , with a few, slightly-crooked teeth. Many of  her fans wonder why she never chose to have her teeth fixed. In spite of her having the money to fix this tiny flaw, she opened up a few years back and explained why she declined to get braces when she was a child.

She told People during an interview in 2015 that It didn’t feel like it would fit who she was inside . Patricia even told a boy in her ninth-grade class something similar, and although he voted her “best looking” in their class, he said she should consider getting them fixed so she could “pose for Playboy.”

She noted that conversations about looks are most often centered on women’s appearances, and rarely focus on men. Patricia says that she embraces her “flaws,” and wants to be free of the stigma that women have to look a certain way to be equal to men.

She said  that interestingly enough, she don’t really care about her teeth.  However, she think any woman on this planet could say, ‘I wish my ass was smaller, my arms were thinner and I had green eyes not brown.’ I think anyone is as critical as they have the energy to self-obsess, but I also know as an actress you are more limited if you interfere with your looks.”

For her role as Tilly Mitchell in the Showtime miniseries Escape at Dannemora, which premiered on November 18, 2018 she gained weight, wore prosthetic teeth, and brown contact lenses.

Patricia Arquette Medium

Patricia made her first transition to television with NBC’s Medium in January 2005. Patricia’s  role as a fictional version of psychic medium Allison DuBois won her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2005. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She won a SAG Award in 2006, 2007 and 2010, and an Emmy Award in 2007.  NBC cancelled Medium in 2009 , then CBS picked the series up and it lasted another two seasons.  She provided voice work for A Single Woman in 2008, which was panned.

Patricia portrayed Kissin’ Kate Barlow in a more family orientated Disney produced Holes. It was Based on the 1998 novel of the same title by Louis Sachar.  Holes earned $16,300,155 in its opening weekend, making #2 at the box office, behind Anger Management’s second weekend.  It would go on to gross a domestic total of $67,406,173 and an additional $4 million in international revenue, totaling $71,406,573 at the box office against a $20 million budget, making the film a moderate financial success.
