Peter Reckell is an American actor. He is widely known for playing Bo Brady, a role which emerged in 1983 on the NBC drama Days of Our Lives.

Peter has played Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives from 1983 to 1987, 1990 to 1992, 1995 to 2012, and returned (with others) in fall 2015 as a lead up to the 50th anniversary (November 8, 1965) of the show.

His other notable credits include Eric Hollister on As the World Turns (1980–1982) and Johnny Rourke on Knots Landing (1988–1989).

Peter was born in Elkhart, Indiana.  He grew up on a farm in Okemos, Michigan. He is the second oldest of six children.  Peter has five siblings two brothers and three sisters. During his junior high school, Peter built theater sets and performed in the chorus, and eventually became a theater technical director.

He continued appearing in numerous plays throughout high school. Upon graduation, Peter attended the prestigious Boston Conservatory, where he received a bachelor of fine arts degree in theater with a minor in music and dance.

From 1983 to 1987 Peter played Bo on Days of our Lives  and later from 1990 to 1991.  In August 1995 he returned to the role of the rugged cop for the third time , but departed the role again in October 2012. During  his absence from Days, Peter appeared in the recurring role of Johnny Rourke on the primetime series Knots Landing.

Other Peter’s stage credits are Moonchildren, The Fantasticks, The Pirates of Penzance, Jesus Christ Superstar, Guys and Dolls, Love Letters and Deathtrap.

Twenty-six years since his debut on Days of Our Lives, on May 14, 2009 Peter was nominated for his first Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Peter left the Days  of our Lives for good  in 2015 when his character, Bo Brady, died. After 23 years as Beauregard Aurelius Brady, known simply as Bo, the Peter taped his final scenes on July 25, 2015. He had left the show in 2013 only to return in 2015, when he died in the arms of his great love, Hope.

Peter On The Passing Of DAYS Peggy McCay: “Looking in Peggy’s Eyes, All I Could See Was A Mom Who Loved Me, And Wanted The Best For Me.”

In 2018 after the death of Peggy McCay (Caroline Brady) who passed away at the age of 90, Peter shared his thoughts on working with the Emmy-winning actress, who was also nominated four times for a Daytime Emmy, by taking to social media on the loss of the matriarch of the Brady clan.

He expressed via his tweet:  “I was so fortunate to have worked with some amazing actors that shaped the actor and person I am .Looking in Peggy’s eyes, all I could see was a Mom who loved me, and wanted the best for me. She was always so committed to the story.Those sparkling eyes RIP”

After a fan put together a tribute of Bo and Caroline scenes through the years on You Tube and shared it with Peter, he responded back with: “This is beautiful! Brought back so many wonderful memories. She truly was a powerful, loving presence, I miss her so much. Thanks for putting this together for all of us who love her. Lots of Love.”
