Salina Madrid is deeply rooted in the Borderland, having spent her entire life there, particularly in her hometown of Las Cruces, New Mexico. She takes great pride in serving her community as the Las Cruces Bureau Reporter.

Salina is a dedicated Aggie and graduated from New Mexico State University in May 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, along with a minor in Government. She enthusiastically supports her alma mater, cheering on the Aggies every step of the way.

During her time at NMSU, Salina played pivotal roles in her journalism career. She anchored and reported for KRWG-TV News22, a student-produced newscast that received recognition for its broadcasting excellence from the New Mexico Broadcasters Association. She also served as the Cultural Editor for the student newspaper, The Round Up, where she covered various campus stories. Her journalism journey took her to Charleston, S.C., where she interned at WCIV ABC News 4.

Salina’s passion for news was ignited in elementary school when she used to watch the news and read the newspaper with her grandfather every morning. Those moments with him left a lasting imprint and inspired her career in journalism.

When Salina isn’t busy telling stories, she enjoys quality time with friends and family, delving into books, hitting the gym, and exploring new restaurants.

Whether you have a story idea for El Paso or New Mexico or simply want to say hello, you can always get in touch with Salina.
