Sheinelle Jones is an American journalist and news anchor working for NBC News and MSNBC. She is co-anchor of the Saturday editions of Weekend Today, a host of MSNBC Live, and a correspondent for all platforms of NBC News.  She also frequently contributes and substitutes on weekdays. Previously she served as news anchor for Weekend Today.

Jones is a co-anchor of NBC News’ “Weekend TODAY” and a mid-week correspondent for “TODAY”. Jones  is also a contributing anchor on weekend editions of “MSNBC Live,” hosts Dateline NBC on OWN, and hosts a new Sirius XM radio show, “Off the Rails” with co-hosts Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer. Craig Melvin left Saturday Today in August 2018 where he co-anchored with Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle but he continued as Today national correspondent and as a weekday MSNBC anchor.

Since she joined TODAY in October 2014, Jones has covered breaking news events, and a variety of human interest stories, including: the 50th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” in Selma, Alabama; Ryan Ferguson, a young man who spent 10 years in prison for a crime he did not commit; and countless interviews with notable figures and celebrities. You’ll also see her trademark enthusiasm on the red carpet including the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and Grammy Awards.

She is also a contributor to the TODAY Parenting Team, a multi-platform community where she shares about her life as a “multi-tasking mom” and interacts with viewers around the country.

Before she  joined TODAY, she served as co-host of FOX’s Emmy Award-winning morning show “Good Day Philadelphia” where she reported local, national and international headlines. She was able to interviewee a number of notable politicians and celebrities, from Senator Barack Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton to Halle Berry, Kevin Hart, and Martin Sheen. She started at “Good Day” in July 2005 as a general assignment reporter for the broadcast.

During her time in Philadelphia, she was recognized for her involvement with children and youth organizations. She also received proclamations from the city of Philadelphia and the states of Pennsylvania and Delaware citing her work as a journalist and volunteer.

Jones joined FOX Philadelphia from the FOX Tulsa, Oklahoma affiliate KOKI, where she served as an evening news anchor and reporter. During her time there, Jones was awarded and honored by the National Association of Black Journalists and the Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Jones began her career in Springfield, Illinois, where as a one-man-band video journalist, the 4’11” correspondent reported while carrying around large broadcast cameras and tripods. Later she  landed in Philadelphia, where she’s worked for the last 9 and a half years, with candor.

“The way I look at it the more haters I have it means I’m doing something right.” At least this is what the Olympic-medalist told Philadelphia Good Day news anchors Sheinelle and Mike Jerrick  causing that interview to go viral with the co-hosts’ laughing reaction after they finished speaking to Lochte about his new reality show What Would Ryan Lochte Do?.

During an interview at the E! Network Upfront red carpet Lochte responded: “The more known you get in the public eye, the more haters you’re gonna have and that’s a given. But, you know what? All the haters, all the name calling goes through one ear (and) out the other and I don’t mind it. The way I look at it the more haters I have it means I’m doing something right.”

Sheinelle together with her team mates said that they had no intention of making fun of the reality star as Jones mentioned during a morning segment, “You know what? We just had a case of the giggles. It almost reminds me of–let’s say you’re in church or at school–and you’re not supposed to laugh, but you’re sitting next to somebody and they start laughing and you start laughing.”

“It’s infectious. It’s contagious,” added Jones.

Lochte appeared on CBS’ Late Show With David Letterman Monday, where he told the talk show host: “I just want to bring swimming into everyone’s living room. So, bringing swimming awareness…”
