Shelly Ribando is an American journalist. She is a co-anchor of KOAT Action 7 News Live at 5:00pm, 6:00pm, and 10:00pm. Shelly brings you the day’s big stories alongside co-anchor Doug Fernandez. Initially she worked as the main 10:00pm anchor at WOFL-TV in Orlando, Florida.
Prior to the Sunshine State, Shelly lived and worked in the much colder climates of Albany, Rochester, and Watertown, New York.

Shelly gave birth to her first child on Wednesday June 2011 night shortly after 10 p.m. She and her husband welcomed a baby girl, Eva Capri Patrick, into the world at 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
In May 12, 2014 during mothers day 2-year old , Shelly’s daughter visited KOAT Action 7. The little 2-year-old Eva is a natural broadcaster. They were all meeting Eva for the first time. KOAT mom, Shelly says it’s been great to see her little girl’s personality come out each day. “she’s very outgoing. she take a dance class. She’s kind of a little ham!” a little star! not shocking, since her mother works in front of the camera informing new mexicans about what’s happening in their state. And though Eva’s personality is a lot like mom’s her looks are definitely all of that of her dad. she loves books so mother and daughter spend a lot of time at the library. Her favorite subject: dolphins, she likes to read in her bedroom. Eva is definitely curious, bold and friendly.

Prior to the Sunshine State, she lived and worked in the much colder climates of Albany, Rochester, and Watertown, New York.
Shelly has earned her position behind the “anchor desk” and has always been a passionate journalist. She worked day and night as an assignment editor, reporter, and producer before anchoring, and understands how to tell the stories that matter.
Shelly believes in doing journalism that makes a difference, and the New York Associated Press Broadcasters Association and the Syracuse Press Club have recognized her outstanding work.
Some memorable highlights of her career include covering the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks from Manhattan, running with the Olympic Torch for the 2002 Winter Olympics, and covering Florida’s hurricane season of 2004.
Shelly is active in the community and is currently serving on the board of directors for the New Mexico Coalition for Literacy. She is looking forward to making new memories here in New Mexico. While she admits she’s not a great skier, she still enjoys hitting the beautiful slopes here in the Land of Enchantment.
