Susan Moonsie And Prince
From about 1980 to 1985 Susan had an on-and-off relationship with Prince. There were a number of different reasons for the end of their relationship. Some have stated Susan chose to end their relationship around 1983 while Prince was infatuated with Vanity. She chose to end her relationship with him and even became good friends with Vanity. Another different story argued that the relationship continued until 1984 when Prince began a close relationship with Susannah Melvoin (the twin sister of Revolution guitarist Wendy Melvoin).
The song “When Doves Cry” is said to have been written by Prince about their relationship. The song”Private Joy” was also supposedly written about her. The pair became very close on the 1980–81 Dirty Mind Tour and she was his main girlfriend until he met Vanity (Denise Matthews) in January 1982. This group was initially designed around her, but she did not want to be a lead singer, hence why Jamie and Brenda Bennett were designated to be main vocalists until Vanity arrived.
Susan Moonsie Vanity 6
Susan is best known as a member of the short-lived 80s all-girl music trio known as “Vanity 6” (1982–1983) which later transformed into “Apollonia 6” (1983–1985). The two groups were protégés of the late music icon Prince and Susan Moonsie was a member of both.
In 1982 under the tutelage of Prince, Vanity 6 released their self-titled debut album. The album was the only album released by the trio before the departure of its lead singer. Later the group found a replacement for its lead singer and was then renamed “Apollonia 6” and just like Vanity 6, Apollonia 6 equally released one studio album before going into oblivion.
