Sydney Sullivan (Meteorologist) Biography
Sydney Sullivan is an American Meteorologist. She joined CNYCentral’s Weather Authority team in June 2019. After her studies, Sydney completed a number of weather internships, including at WSB in Atlanta, WESH in Orlando, and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.

Sydney is originally from Kennesaw, GA, where she graduated with a degree in Communication-Media Studies at Kennesaw State University in 2016. She then earned her second Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology at the Florida Institute of Technology in 2019.

Meteorologist Sydney joined CNYCentral’s Weather Authority team in June 2019. After she completed her studies. Before joining CBS 5 (WTVH) she completed a number of weather internships, including at WSB in Atlanta, WESH in Orlando, and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.
“This Georgia girl is headed North! I am beyond excited to start my weather career in Syracuse at @CNYcentral,” Sydney wrote on Twitter. “I felt it in my gut from the start & now I can officially follow my dreams! I’m so ready & so grateful for this opportunity & amazing team!”
Her Passion with weather started at a young age, when her grandmother said (on a rainy day at the beach), “You can’t control the weather.” The idea of not being able to control such a thing, triggered her interest to study and learn the valuable question of, why and how the earth’s atmosphere works the way it does. Additionally, her uncle, who is also a meteorologist, was very influential in guiding and pushing her to follow her passion of keeping the public weather aware.
Sydney replaced Matott, a Liverpool High School and SUNY Oswego grad who joined CNY Central as a meteorologist four years ago who announced earlier that she was leaving the television broadcasting business to pursue a job as a teacher. CNY Central said its meteorologist Michael Brookins will be moving to the CBS5 Morning and Noon broadcasts after Matott’s depature.
Prior to joining of a new meteorologist Sydney according to the Syracuse Press Club, more lineup changes were made in May 2019 at CNY Central.
Frankie Jupiter joined Lisa Spitz and meteorologist Peter Hall as a co-anchor on “NBC 3 Today in Central New York,” replacing former NBC 3 (WSTM) morning anchor Jeremy Miller. Jupiter previously worked as a reporter and anchor at FOX 19 (WXIX) in Cincinnati and at WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia.
And Chicago reporter Melanie Johnson joined CNY Central as a reporter last month, joining the TV station after recently working at Spectrum News Rochester.

Sydney spent 20 years of her life dancing and had the opportunity to be a part of the Kennesaw State Dance Team in college. She also competed at the Miss Georgia Pageant earning a non-finalist talent award, while raising awareness for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Sydney has traveled to more than 30 countries with her family, loves being involved in the community, and is quite adventurous.
She is thrilled to experience and explore everything CNY has to offer and is ready to tackle her first winter up North!
