Todd Summers, the weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter at 7 News, comes with a wealth of experience in the field. Before becoming part of the 7 News sports team, Todd’s career journey took him through WCYB-TV in Bristol, Virginia, WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee, and WRIC in Richmond, Virginia.
With over two decades of sports coverage in the southeastern region, Todd has had the privilege of covering some of the most thrilling sporting events, including The Masters, Super Bowl, Daytona 500, College World Series, Women’s Final Four, and numerous college football bowl games.
Despite these high-profile assignments, Todd finds great satisfaction in covering sports within local neighborhoods and communities. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, he maintains strong ties to the Richmond area through family connections.
Todd’s personal life is equally rich. He married his wife, Christie, in June 2004, and they have two sons. Beyond his career and family, Todd’s interests include staying active through workouts and enjoying sports like golf, tennis, and anything that involves a ball.
