Tom Sherry holds a pivotal role as the chief meteorologist for KREM 2 News and doubles as the 4 p.m. news anchor. His tenure with the KREM 2 News team began in January 1990, and since then, he’s been a trusted face delivering weather updates to the community.

Tom’s journey in broadcasting initiated in 1981 when he ventured into radio as an announcer. Over time, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a program director at KDRK-FM in Spokane. His transition into television commenced in 1990 as a weekend weathercaster at KREM 2 News. By 1992, he assumed the role of the morning weather anchor, and in 1993, he took the helm as the chief meteorologist.
Tom’s meteorological credentials include graduating from the Mississippi State University Broadcast Meteorological program. He holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval and is a member of the American Meteorological Society.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tom has garnered numerous accolades from KREM 2 viewers. He was voted as the best weathercaster by readers of The Inlander newspaper from 1995 through 2018, along with being named the favorite weathercaster in The Spokesman-Review’s first Reader’s Poll in 1998. His consistent excellence has led to his induction into the Inlander Hall of Fame for winning the best weather forecaster title for more than a decade.
Tom’s dedication extends to philanthropy. Each October, he spearheads Tom’s Turkey Drive, the largest food drive in the Inland Northwest. This initiative not only provides Thanksgiving meals to numerous families but also supports local food banks throughout the winter months through substantial donations. In recognition of this effort, Tom and KREM received the Spokane United Way’s business volunteer of the year award in 2007.
While Tom hails from Southern California, his entire professional life has been rooted in the Spokane area. He’s the proud father of two adult boys, Michael and Matthew.
During his leisure time, Tom revels in activities like skiing, boating, rollerblading, gardening, and barbecuing. Notably, he also contributes as a professional auctioneer for various local events.
