Tom Wylie became a part of the MTN News sports team in June 2014, and he was absolutely thrilled to be back in the Treasure State. Tom had spent the previous two years in the deep South, serving as the Assistant Sports Director at WJBF-TV in Augusta, GA.
Although raised in Bozeman, MT, his time in the South was a life-changing and remarkable experience. While in Augusta, Tom had the privilege of covering two Masters tournaments and even had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream by playing the course at Augusta National twice.
Tom’s sports reporting journey has taken him to cover a wide range of events, from NFL, SEC, and ACC football to driving a NASCAR at the Charlotte International Speedway. He has had the honor of interviewing sports legends like Gary Player, Bill Walton, and William “Fridge” Perry. However, his most cherished moments come from witnessing the triumphs of north-central Montana teams and athletes winning state championships.
Beyond his professional life, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife, Tianna, as they crisscross the state to visit friends and family. And in an endearing note from his mother, Tom was nominated for a 2013 Southeast Emmy award for his work on “WJBF Football Friday Night.” He also earned a Georgia Associated Press Award for a story on a South Carolina high school basketball player who was granted a 5th year of eligibility after missing a season due to a cancer diagnosis.
