Trent Bennett embarked on his journey with the KETK news team in November 2016, where he assumed the role of the Longview bureau reporter. This was a significant step in his career, particularly because he was returning to his East Texas roots, near his hometown of Hallsville.

Trent’s introduction to the KETK airwaves dates back to his high school years when he appeared on East Texas Live for an interview about his lead role in a local production. Little did he know that this would be just the beginning of his career in the media.

His educational path led him to Stephen F. Austin State University, an East Texas institution where he pursued a Bachelor of Arts in theatre arts, complemented by a minor in English. His time at SFA saw him perform leading roles in front of audiences numbering up to a thousand people. This experience laid the groundwork for his future in television. The moment that truly sparked his passion for journalism occurred when he stepped in as a substitute for an SFA sports report.

Beyond his news reporting, Trent also delved into the world of camera work, participating in at least 20 undergraduate films at SFA. His commitment and talents were evident in the ongoing process of submitting one of these films to a regional film festival.

Outside the newsroom, Trent finds joy in watching films, immersing himself in books, and taking his miniature dachshund, Stella, on leisurely walks.
