Ty Batemon recently returned to Your Hometown Stations following a two-year hiatus, during which she contributed her skills to the WCIA 3 news team in Central Illinois. In the interim, Ty found fulfillment in substitute teaching for the Champaign School District. This wasn’t her first encounter with Central Illinois, as she had previously interned for WEIU-TV in Charleston back in 2012. Ty expresses her joy at the warm reception she’s received upon her return to West Central Ohio, a community she holds close to her heart after spending nearly four years here at the outset of her career in broadcast journalism.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Ty’s early life was marked by travels across the globe as a military dependent. She’s had a multifaceted career, having served as a multimedia journalist and co-anchor for Fast Track, Purdue University’s student television news. Her journalistic journey commenced at WLFI in West Lafayette, Indiana. Despite her extensive travels, she proudly identifies as a Hoosier with a deep connection to Purdue University, evident in her Boilermaker blood.
Notably, Ty achieved a significant milestone at Purdue University, with Fast Track winning first place at The Broadcast Education Association Awards for its outstanding piece, “Fast Track Best of Fall 2012,” in 2013.
Ty earned her Mass Communication degree from Purdue University in 2012, an accomplishment that ranks among her greatest achievements. In an impressive academic feat, she later graduated from Purdue once again, this time with a Master’s degree in Communications.
