Tyler Jankoski, a proud member of the NBC5 First Warning Weather Team since January 2017, is thrilled to forecast the weather in New England and northern New York.

Tyler’s roots are in Bristol, Connecticut, where he grew up. His fascination with New England weather has been a decade-long journey, with a particular focus on wintertime Nor’easters. He has a deep connection to Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, having spent many vacations in Cabot while visiting family.

A distinguished member of the American Meteorological Society, Tyler holds the title of a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, a mark of professional distinction. His expertise in navigating the ever-changing weather patterns of New England has been honed through various roles. Following college, he seized the opportunity to work as a meteorologist in western Massachusetts at WGGB-TV. Subsequently, he dedicated nearly two years to NBC Connecticut.

Tyler’s academic background includes graduating from The Pennsylvania State University, a prestigious institution for meteorology studies. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology.

In addition to his professional commitments, Tyler dedicates his summers to volunteering at the Little League Baseball Eastern Regional Tournament in Bristol, Connecticut, starting from 2004. He is deeply passionate about his volunteer work, embracing roles like public address announcing and overseeing operational aspects during the week-long event in August. The tournament has welcomed numerous teams from the Burlington area over the years.

Tyler is an unwavering Nittany Lions fan and finds immense joy in the electric atmosphere of a “White Out” in Beaver Stadium. In his free time, you can catch him passionately cheering on Penn State, capturing photographs of fire trucks, volunteering at Little League, hitting the slopes for skiing, and closely observing the weather.
