Valentina made her debut with the KTVN team in August of 2019. Her academic journey took her through Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she contributed as a multimedia journalist in both English and Spanish for the Met Report and Noticiero TVMet. Her arrival in Denver in 2012 was motivated by her pursuit of higher education and a strong desire to gain extensive experience in the field of broadcast journalism.

During her educational and professional journey, Valentina had the privilege of collaborating with various broadcast outlets in the Denver area, including FOX 31, Rocky Mountain PBS, and KUVO. Her time with Rocky Mountain PBS included her involvement in “Insight with John Ferrugia,” an Emmy-nominated investigative show. Her work as an editor on “Rescuing the Innocent” earned her a nomination at the Heartland Emmy Awards and an Award of Excellence from the Colorado Broadcasters Association.

Valentina acknowledges the invaluable guidance provided by her mentors, who imparted numerous skills crucial for her role as a multimedia journalist. Having the capacity to handle every aspect of a story, from reporting to photography, writing, and editing, offers a remarkable degree of control over the final product. While it can be demanding at times, the rewards are truly satisfying.

One of Valentina’s cherished childhood memories from her native Brazil involves watching her mother report the news on local television. Her mother’s dedicated 25-year career in journalism served as a profound motivation for Valentina, inspiring her to aim for all that and more.

Valentina notes that the viewers in Reno have been exceptionally welcoming, and while her accent may reveal that “she’s not from around here,” her genuine interest and affection for the people and stories she covers are unmistakable. Her passion for journalism and commitment to her work make her an invaluable asset to the community she serves.
