Valerie’s journey in journalism has taken her from her hometown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to the Midwest. Her passion for journalism and storytelling was ignited during her high school years, where she became involved in her school’s drama club and newspaper. It was during this time that she discovered her love for journalism.

Valerie pursued her higher education at the University of Florida, proudly representing the Gators. Her major was Telecommunication-News, with a concentration in Political Science. Her time at UF was marked by being an award-winning anchor and reporter for her school’s PBS affiliate station, WUFT.

Leaving the Sunshine State behind, Valerie embraced a new adventure in the Midwest. She was drawn to the region by her desire to experience distinct seasons, particularly the winters. In her downtime from reporting, she enjoys exploring the Tri-State area, meeting new people, indulging in her love for reading, playing the piano, and spending quality time with her loyal canine companion, Chewie. Her diverse interests and dedication to her craft have undoubtedly contributed to her success in the field of journalism.
