Vanessa Negrete is a morning producer at CBS2, and her journey has brought her back to the Valley, her hometown of Weiser. It’s a return to her roots and a chance to pursue her college-found passion.
Vanessa graduated in May 2019 from the University of Idaho, holding a B.A. in Broadcast & Digital Media and a B.A. in Spanish. Her discovery of her passion for media and journalism took place during her freshman year when she encountered the School of Journalism and Mass Media at UI. There, she was an active part of “Inside The Vandals,” a student-run production that covered sports and aired on local stations in Northern Idaho. She also contributed to the Media Relations team within the Athletic Department, creating engaging feature pieces that highlighted their scholarship foundation. Vanessa’s role as the External Outreach/Social Media for TEDxUIdaho spanned two consecutive years, immersing her in the digital world.
After her college years, she returned to the Treasure Valley shortly after graduation and joined CBS2 in August of the same year.
Beyond the newsroom, Vanessa keeps herself active by practicing yoga and enjoying bike rides. Her love for food fuels her culinary explorations in the kitchen, experimenting with new recipes and baking. As an avid reader, she frequently dives into books she’s just discovered or saved in her notes for months. Vanessa relishes quality time spent with family and friends since her return to the Boise area, eagerly discovering new places and activities in the city to share with them.
