Veronica became a part of the 5NEWS team in December 2018, taking on the roles of anchor and reporter. She anchors 5NEWS First at 4 with Erika Thomas and the 5 p.m. newscast with Daren Bobb. Originally hailing from Chicago, Illinois, she’s made quite an impact in the field of journalism.
Veronica holds a B.A. in History and an M.A. in Journalism, both earned from DePaul University. During her college years, she was an integral part of the weekly campus television show, Good Day DePaul. Veronica also gained experience as an intern for WTTW’s Emmy award-winning restaurant review series, Check, Please! Her internship at WGN-TV in Chicago added to her rich journalistic background.
She spent two years reporting at the ABC affiliate in Lincoln, Nebraska, where her writing prowess earned her the 1st Place AP award for “Gigi’s Story.”
Veronica’s next career move led her to reporting for the CBS affiliate in South Bend, Indiana, at WSBT-TV. She achieved recognition from the Indiana Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for her story, “Dr. Vagner celebrates 100 years.”
When Veronica isn’t working, you’ll likely find her enjoying quality time with her rescue dog, Jingles. Her hobbies include savoring as much pizza as humanly possible, diving into sci-fi/fantasy novels, and indulging in binge-watching sessions of her favorite TV shows on Netflix.
