Vivien Leigh is a dedicated reporter at NEWS CENTER Maine in Portland. Her extensive expertise spans a wide range of news topics, with a special focus on reporting medical issues, including rare illnesses, Lyme disease, and developmental disabilities.

Throughout her career, Vivien’s reporting has earned her numerous accolades, including a prestigious regional Edward R. Murrow award in 2016. She was recognized for her compelling story about a car salesman who played a crucial role in assisting authorities in tracking down a victim of child pornography in Canada. Additionally, she boasts four New England Emmy nominations for a series of stories highlighting how medical marijuana is providing relief to sick children in Maine.

Vivien’s journey with NEWS CENTER Maine commenced in 2002, and she has been an invaluable asset ever since. Prior to her tenure in Maine, she served as a reporter and bureau chief at KSDK-TV in St. Louis, Missouri. Her impactful reporting on breaking news earned her numerous accolades, including a St. Louis Regional Emmy, the Best of Gannett award, and the Associated Press ‘Best Spot News’ award. Before her time in Missouri, Vivien was a general assignment reporter at KABB-TV, the FOX affiliate in San Antonio, Texas, and also worked as a reporter and bureau chief at KRGV-TV, the ABC affiliate in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.

Vivien Leigh’s educational background is diverse, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television, and Film. Her pursuit of knowledge took her to college in Texas, Mexico, and Germany, enriching her perspective and experiences. Notably, she possesses conversational fluency in both Spanish and German, adding linguistic depth to her skill set.

Beyond her career, Vivien is a devoted mother to three school-age children, one of whom has Autism. She dedicates her time and energy to volunteering with Central Maine Adaptive Sports, situated at Lost Valley Ski Resort in Auburn. Here, she plays a vital role in teaching children with developmental disabilities how to ski. Additionally, Vivien contributes to the Robbie Foundation, a noble cause that raises funds to cover therapy treatments, adaptive equipment, and other essential services not covered by insurance for children and young adults with developmental disabilities.
