Wanya Reese (Journalist)

Wanya Reese became a part of the 13WMAZ team in January 2018, bringing with him a wealth of experience and enthusiasm.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Alongside his major, he also pursued a minor in Political Science. During his time at VCU, Wanya was actively involved in the student-run broadcast, VCU Insight. His roles there encompassed Multi-Media Journalist, Anchor, Producer, and Executive Producer.

Before joining 13WMAZ, Wanya had the privilege of interning and collaborating with the top-notch news team at NBC 12 (WWBT) in Richmond. During his tenure there, he contributed to covering significant events, including the unrest in Charlottesville, Virginia, during the “Unite the Right” rally.

Though originally hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, Wanya was relatively new to Central Georgia when he embarked on his journey with 13WMAZ.

Beyond his work as a journalist, Wanya has a passion for exploration. He enjoys discovering the sights and flavors of Macon and Atlanta, with a particular fondness for seeking out the best hot wings. Family time also holds a special place in his heart. Furthermore, Wanya is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, showcasing his commitment to community and brotherhood.

Wanya is known for his friendly and approachable demeanor. If you happen to cross paths with him in Macon or anywhere else, don’t hesitate to greet him with a warm “Hello!” or “What’s up?”
