Wes Peery is currently the weekend evening meteorologist at 41Action News. Originally hailing from Columbia, Missouri, he joined the weather team in August 2020.
In his early years, Wes had a significant fear of weather. His older brother made matters worse by playing thunder and lightning sounds in their room, making it challenging for him to sleep at night. However, Wes decided it was time to conquer his fear and immerse himself in understanding weather patterns. When he turned sixteen and acquired his first car, he embarked on a tornado-chasing adventure across the state of Missouri.
Wes pursued his passion by attending Mississippi State University, where he earned a B.S. in Professional Meteorology with a focus on broadcasting.
Beyond his meteorological pursuits, Wes has a range of hobbies. He enjoys playing lacrosse and the drums, as well as grilling and smoking delicious meals. He’s also a devoted dog owner, spending quality time with his furry companions, Smokey and Piper.
Wes’s meteorological career began in Springfield, Missouri, at KOLR10, where he served as a weekend meteorologist and digital content producer for three years. Subsequently, he spent two years as a weekend and digital meteorologist at 11Alive in Atlanta. As a dedicated professional, Wes is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
He is delighted to be back in his home state, where he can provide accurate and actionable weather forecasts to the community. You can connect with Wes on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to stay updated on his meteorological insights and adventures.
