In March 2020, Wesley Boone joined KTAL as a sports reporter, and within just a few months, he assumed the role of Sports Director in September 2020.
Wesley’s journey in the world of journalism began behind and in front of the camera when he worked for the Southeastern Channel at Southeastern Louisiana University. It was here that he cultivated and nurtured his passion for storytelling.
During his time at Southeastern, Wesley had the privilege of covering all of Southeastern’s major sports, showcasing his versatility and dedication to sports journalism.
In recognition of his outstanding work, Wesley received the prestigious title of “Collegiate Louisiana Broadcaster of the Year” from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters in 2018. Notably, he was the first recipient to win this honor exclusively for sports coverage. He also achieved accolades such as Second place in Sports Feature Story, First place in Feature Story at the Collegiate Associated Press Awards, First place in Videography, and even a coveted Best in Show Award.
In 2018, Wesley returned to his hometown station, KALB, as the weekend sports anchor. For over a year, he covered a wide range of sports events in Cenla, showcasing his dedication to his craft. Later, he took on a role as an MMJ for the “#1 High School Sports Show in the Nation,” the 49ers Cal-Hi Sports Report.
Beyond his career, Wesley enjoys leisure time by going to the movies, avidly following sports, and spending quality moments with his family.
