Will DuPree is a distinguished digital anchor and reporter who made his mark as part of the KXAN News team in June 2018. His innovative contributions include the launch of KXAN Live, Austin’s premier anchored live-streaming operation, delivering top stories and breaking news daily through various platforms, including KXAN.com, the KXAN News app, and the KXAN News Facebook page.
Before his tenure in Austin, Will spent four fulfilling years as a reporter and anchor at KJRH, the NBC station in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His exceptional reporting skills garnered him numerous accolades, including an Emmy award from the Heartland region for his coverage of a destructive tornado. The Tulsa community also recognized his talent by voting him as Tulsa’s favorite TV reporter at the Tulsa Press Club’s Newsies Awards. Additionally, he secured the title of Best Solo Journalist from the Arkansas-Oklahoma Associated Press Broadcasters Association for a story about innovative teachers that he single-handedly shot, wrote, and edited.
Will’s journey in journalism also includes roles as a video journalist and fill-in anchor at KAIT in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and as a reporter and producer at a cable news station in Lawrence, Kansas.
He is an alumnus of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in journalism in 2010. Will’s roots trace back to a small community in northeast Arkansas.
Beyond his reporting duties in Central Texas, Will enjoys indulging in the latest movies, immersing himself in reading, savoring culinary delights at new restaurants, and exploring his vibrant new city.
