Woody Wilkins serves as the Assignment Manager at The Delta News, a role that places him at the heart of news coordination and management.
Hailing from Greenville, Woody is not only a dedicated journalist but also a U.S. Navy veteran. His journey into the world of journalism began in 1989, upon returning home, when he secured a position as a reporter at the Delta Democrat Times. His dedication and skills quickly propelled him through the ranks, as he moved up to become the city editor and eventually the managing editor. During this time, Woody showcased his writing talents by penning a personal opinion column twice a week and contributing to editorial content.
In 2008, Woody transitioned to WXVT, where he initially worked as a reporter and later assumed the role of assignment editor. Beyond his journalism career, Woody delves into the realm of fiction writing. He’s the proud author of the novel “Delta Blue” and continues to work on several other literary projects.
Woody is not only passionate about journalism and writing but also actively engaged in his community. He is a member of the Greenville Community Harmony Chorus and serves on the board of directors for Delta Center Stage. Additionally, you might even spot him showcasing his vocal talents during karaoke nights at local venues.
Woody calls Hollandale home, where he resides with his loving family. He’s a devoted husband and a proud parent to three children, with the added joy of being a grandfather to one granddaughter.
