Just two weeks later, he found himself covering for various dayparts, from mornings to afternoon drive. Eventually, Xavier was hired to work afternoons by the astute programmer JD Gonzalez, and he competed against the very Heritage Station that had given him his start.
Xavier’s prowess in radio was unmistakable, as he dominated the ratings, holding the top spot in the market for three consecutive years, regardless of the format. He was then entrusted with the morning show slot, with the initial goal of merely being competitive. Xavier defied expectations by defeating the top-rated morning show in the market, maintaining a top-three position for the majority of his twelve-year tenure at KBBT 98.5 in San Antonio.
During his time at The Beat, Xavier was called upon to syndicate the show from San Antonio to The Bay Area (San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland).
