Mary Alice Williams is a broadcast journalist and author. She is the former co-anchor of NBC’s Weekend Today and a former anchor and news division Vice President on CNN. Mary is currently an anchor of NJTV News on New Jersey’s public television network, NJTV.
As a broadcast journalist, Mary has spent her career doing investigative work on such topics as foreign policy, ethics, technology and health. Mary is also an associate professor of Journalism at SUNY Purchase and was previously an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University.

As special assignment correspondent, she covered the 1974 and 1978 United States Senate elections and the 1976 Democratic Convention and presidential election. She joined WNBC in 1974. Williams went to WNBC from WPIX in New York where, at age 23, she served as executive producer of news programming. Previously, she was executive producer at KSTP-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she started her career as a reporter at age 18.
