Travis Fossing (Journalist)

Travis Fossing became part of the KELOLAND news team in October 2020, taking up the co-anchor role on KELOLAND This Morning. However, his presence in the newsroom isn’t recent. Travis dedicated over 13 years to being the sports director from 2000-2007 and then again from 2014-2020 before transitioning from late nights to early mornings.

Growing up in Windom, Minnesota, Travis was deeply involved in sports, playing baseball, basketball, and football. Surprisingly, he also took part in school plays, showcasing his diverse interests. A dedicated Minnesota sports fan, although his patience with the Vikings may be running thin.

Travis began his journey at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, earning a degree in radio & television broadcasting. His television career began as an intern at KELO-TV in 1998. By October 2000, he was named the sports director and went on to win the Associated Press Sportscast of the Year three times in the next seven years. After six years in Minnesota, Travis returned to Sioux Falls in February 2014, resuming his role as the sports director at KELOLAND Media Group.

Travis has covered major events, including a Super Bowl, NCAA Tournaments, and even the Iditarod, not to mention thousands of college and high school sporting events. Now, he’s thrilled to be a part of the KELOLAND Media Group news team.

In his personal life, Travis is happily married to his college sweetheart, Krissy. They are proud parents to their son, Lincoln, born in 2008. The Fossing family, accompanied by their miniature dachshund, Penny, relishes camping, attending sporting events, and cherishing moments with extended family.
