Valerie Pritchett takes on the role of co-anchor for abc27 News at 5 and abc27 News at 7. Beyond her anchoring responsibilities, Valerie is also involved in reporting.

Valerie’s deep-seated passion for improving the lives of children in Pennsylvania was ignited by a foster mother she encountered, who had cared for numerous infants in need. In response to this inspiration, Valerie initiated “Val’s Kids.” This special segment serves as a platform for sharing the stories of children seeking adoptive homes through the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network. “Val’s Kids” is broadcast on abc27 News at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Sundays at 6 p.m.

Her contributions to Operation Safe Kids, a feature aimed at promoting fire safety and the installation of smoke alarms, played a pivotal role in abc27 receiving a prestigious Service to Community Award from the National Association of Broadcasters. This accolade represents one of the highest honors that a broadcast television station can attain.

Valerie’s love for Central Pennsylvania drives her active engagement as a community volunteer. She holds positions as a board member for the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the United Way of the Capital Region, and the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Her dedication to nonprofit work extends to organizations like the Harrisburg Police Athletic League, the American Cancer Society, the Harrisburg Symphony, and her involvement in raising puppies for Susquehanna Service Dogs. Valerie’s multifaceted contributions have had a significant positive impact on her community and continue to make a difference in the lives of many.
