As the President and General Manager of NBC 7 and Telemundo 20, Todd Mokhtari plays a pivotal role in the oversight of all operations for both stations. His responsibilities encompass news, digital, sales, marketing and promotions, community affairs, as well as operations and technology.
With over 25 years of experience in leadership roles within newsrooms across the country’s top 20 TV markets, including Los Angeles, Seattle, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Sacramento, Todd Mokhtari brings a wealth of expertise to his current position. Before taking on the role of President and GM at KNSD and KUAN, he served as the Vice President of News at NBC4 Southern California in Los Angeles (KNBC) from 2012. During his tenure at KNBC, Mokhtari achieved notable accomplishments. He successfully expanded and restructured the newsroom, fostering the development of a highly qualified team both in front of and behind the camera. He led the redesign of the news studio, bolstered the investigative team, and enhanced news coverage to better align with the unique values and preferences of the Southern California market and its viewers. Furthermore, Mokhtari advanced the station’s weather team, making it the most accurate meteorological group in the market. He also spearheaded the creation of a pioneering radar system covering 40,000 square miles.
Prior to his role at NBC4, Todd Mokhtari served as the news director at KIRO-TV in Seattle. During his tenure there, he elevated the station’s social media engagement, ultimately securing the number one position in the market for engagement across all social platforms. He also held the position of assistant news director at the NBC-owned and operated station, KNTV-San Jose.
Todd’s career in the broadcasting industry began as an intern at KCRA-TV, an NBC affiliate in Sacramento, California. He rapidly progressed to become a writer and producer for the station’s morning newscast, later transitioning to roles on the top-rated 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts.
Mokhtari is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, holding degrees in Political Science and Rhetoric and Communications. As a California native, he enjoys a multi-faceted life, embracing his role as a father, pursuing a passion for golf, and exploring the local travel scene.
