Tom Hillen joined the 24 Hour News 8 team in July 2010, initially working behind the scenes as an editor and photojournalist for “Weekend Daybreak.” However, he swiftly transitioned to an on-camera role, reporting for “Weekend Daybreak” and “24 Hour News 8 Daybreak” during the week.

Tom spent approximately two years reporting for “Daybreak” before moving to report for “24 Hour News 8 at 11.”

He is a graduate of Central Michigan University’s School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts and gained anchoring experience with News Central 34 while in college.

Despite graduating from CMU, Tom is a passionate Michigan State fan and has had the opportunity to cover the Spartans in the NCAA basketball tournament and the 2013 Big Ten Football Championship.

His reporting experiences have included covering the Detroit Tigers in the World Series and reporting from Florida when Tropical Storm Debby hit.

Tom is a West Michigan native, having grown up in Walker and attended Kenowa Hills Public Schools.

He possesses a love for travel and has achieved the feat of visiting all 50 states in the United States.
